‘Aesthetics’ of ‘Female’ ‘Attractiveness’

Comedian and artist Casey Jane Ellison brought her irreverent humor to a performative, talk-show-style panel on the ‘Aesthetics’ of ‘Female’ ‘Attractiveness’ with Grace Dunham (writer and activist), Reina Gossett (activist, writer, artist), Karley Sciortino (writer), and Leilah Weinraub (artist and filmmaker).

This panel was led by comedian and online talk-show host Casey Jane Ellison, who is known for her deadpan, humorous interviews in the style of Zach Galifinakis’s ‘Between Two Ferns’. This event took the form of a game-show-style panel discussion, in which ‘three brilliant women will discuss how hot they are and why.’ Ellison posed questions to her panelists such as ‘Does pretty, in fact, hurt?’ and ‘Am I pretty?’ and played games including ‘There’s Suffering in That!: As a group, they were shown different images of women and deciphered and discussed if There’s Suffering in That image! Female contestants were encouraged to use artspeak in their critical analyses. (Correct analyses was awarded 10 points. Incorrect analyses was deducted 100 points.)’
